Everywhere we turn the leaves are changing, the pumpkins are ripe and ready for carving, outdoor markets are in full-swing, and Hog Roast Yate? Well, we have been making the most of it all! Since October started, our teams have found themselves travelling all over the place to join in the autumnal festivities – because you and I both know that autumn just wouldn’t be the same without one of our delicious hog roasts, am I right?
We might only be mid-way through the month so far, but already our team has been rushed off their feet with bookings for all sorts of open-air events including farmers markets, food festivals and even the occasional live music performance too! As a result, these last few have weeks have been a lot of fun for us, especially because of the outdoor markets which have always been a firm favourite of ours – in fact, it’s something our team actively look forward to every single year, and this year has been no different!
While the events themselves might not look anything like they have done in previous years; what with all the social distancing measures involved, customers wearing face masks, and, of course, our very own Hog Roast Yate team wearing full PPE at all times, one thing that remains familiar is the positive community spirit. At every event we’ve attended, our team have received a warm welcome from the guests, and last week we were fortunate enough to treat the community from a closeby town to a traditional hog roast lunch.
The Hog Roast Yate catering crew had spent the entirety of the morning setting up our stall before prepping the food. On the menu for the day included one of our large free-range pigs with all the trimmings, a side of our homemade coleslaw and a meat-free option of grilled veggie skewers with Greek halloumi cheese, tzatziki dip and freshly baked flatbreads.
As always, the show-stopping spit-roasted pig caught the attention of every passer-by, and after stopping to glance, they couldn’t resist the temptation of trying the flavourful feast for themselves!
