Hog Roast Shifnal Brought Cultures Together With A Culinary Fusion!

Hog Roast ShifnalHog Roast Shifnal had the honour of catering for Luke and May’s wedding on Saturday! But this wasn’t just any wedding—it was a magical fusion of two vibrant cultures, bringing together the best of British and Malaysian traditions.

With May, the radiant bride hailing from Malaysia, and Luke, the dashing groom, being British-born, the couple’s dream was to blend both cultures to create an unforgettable wedding!

The couple’s chosen venue for the occasion was a charming country house hotel, complete with perfectly clipped lawns and flowers in full bloom. Adding a splash of Malaysian flair, red and gold decorations adorned the space, with elaborate floral archways creating a whimsical atmosphere. May looked stunning in her traditional baju kurung, intricately embroidered with lace and beads. The guests, wearing a wonderful mix of British and Malay attire, embodied the seamless blending of two cultures.

But the food is what really helped the two families come together! Since pork is a beloved staple in both British and Asian cuisine, Hog Roast Shifnal was the obvious choice. And under the expert guidance of our catering maestro, Lee, our team whipped up a feast that had everyone’s taste buds dancing with joy. The culinary adventure began with welcome drinks and an array of delicious canapés, comprising pan-seared fillet of beef with mini Yorkshire puddings, roasted duck with beansprouts, ginger wraps and crispy spring rolls, chicken satay skewers with peanut sauce, mini quiches, and chicken liver parfait. Yummy, right? As guests took their seats, we served the Gressingham duck starter with an orange and pomegranate dressing.

Hog Roast ShifnalThe main course was a bountiful buffet featuring a traditional hog roast with all the trimmings: crackling, stuffing, and applesauce. We also served spit-roasted lamb with mint sauce, and for our vegetarian and vegan companions, grilled vegetable and halloumi kebabs with tzatziki dip and flatbreads. With side salads, coleslaw, roasted new potatoes, bread rolls, wraps, and a variety of condiments, there was something for everyone. Just when the guests thought it couldn’t get any better, dessert rolled in! Hog Roast Shifnal proudly presented a buffet of sticky toffee puddings, a British classic, alongside refreshing fresh fruit salads, which paired perfectly with the traditional durian cake May’s family had prepared.

May and Luke’s wedding was an enchanting celebration, and we at Hog Roast Shifnal are over the moon to have been a part of it!
