Even when you’re as good at something as the Hog Roast Ledbury team is at spit-roasting pigs, not doing it for more than a year will inevitably make you a tad rusty. Because, as we all know, practice is the key to perfection!
With that in mind, we have spent the past couple of weeks preparing our caterers for their almost immediate return to the field by re-acquainting them with our serving styles, health and safety procedures and presentation. On top of all this, we also took the opportunity to bring them up to speed on our all-new dining options, which are already proving to be hugely popular among our most recent clients.
The refresher course, which had been set up in the same way as a typical event would be, went ahead a couple of weeks back, and it made the world of difference for our team. Reminding everyone where to place the spit-roasting devices (within view of the main function, but out of reach so as to prevent accidents), how to arrange the tables, so that they fit snugly under the gazebo, and the best layout for the condiments, bread rolls and salads, Hog Roast Ledbury’s catering manager, Mark left no detail out.
Before making a practice roast for themselves, though, the team first covered the health and safety aspect of the job. Starting by double-checking that the fire hydrant was among the arsenal of tools, along with carving knives, the aptly named sanitation station and cleaning products, the caterers checked off their inventory before firing up the HogMaster.
Working together, the Hog Roast Ledbury team then went on to prepare our gorgeous new Alfresco Menu, which resulted in a colourful array of salads, a beautiful assortment of Italian cold cuts and fragrant cheeses, and in the centre of it all stood a perfectly crispy, golden pig with stuffing, crackling and homemade applesauce.
By the end of the event, everyone had regained their confidence, and now, they’re just eager to get back to doing what they do best: creating and serving the best hog roasts the Midlands have ever seen!
