It’s that time of year when all the studying and the stress of the big final year exams is over. For one student in particular, graduating from university with a 2:1 in Economics was a dream come true because it had taken her so long to achieve it! Karen had to give up university the first time around after falling pregnant with her first child, and it had taken her another 25 years before she was able to get back on campus! With her the full support of her husband Mark and their daughters Molly and Lucy, Karen finally achieved her dream of gaining her degree, and they all felt throwing her a party to celebrate was an absolute must!
Knowing Karen wouldn’t appreciate a big showy affair where she was the centre of attention, they decided to have a garden party for their close friends and family, who Karen wouldn’t mind being surprised in front of! Since Karen had always loved roast pork, they decided a hog roast was the way to go, and they hired Hog Roast Bilston to cater for the happy event!
Mark and his daughters plotted behind Karen’s back to ensure everything was in place, and as they drove her to her graduation ceremony, he had arranged for Karen’s parents to come to their house on their way there to let us in and show us our cooking area. The Hog Roast Bilston team are very experienced in catering for surprise parties, so we were fine with all the cloak and dagger stuff!
Whilst her family were proudly watching the oblivious Karen receive her degree certificate, we were busy preparing the slow roasted pork, new potatoes and Caesar salad, which we would be ready to serve of course, the moment Karen and her family arrived home! When that time came, the rest of the family were already gathered in the garden, eager to see Karen’s face and just as eager to try Hog Roast Bilston’s pork! They didn’t have to wait long for either, as Karen and Mark arrived shortly afterwards, and she was so taken-aback she nearly tripped down the steps on her way into the garden! Her family had got it just right, and Karen loved the food and the atmosphere. It may have been a long time coming, but the new graduate finally got her degree and the celebration she deserved!
