When you have been with someone for a long time it can be difficult to think of new and exciting ways to show them how much you love them. This was what Bridget told us when she called us up to book us in for her and her husband, Leon’s, 30th wedding anniversary.
Bridget told us that in the past on their anniversaries they had cooked each other romantic dinners, booked weekends away and gone to the theatre etc but this year she wanted to do something they had never done before. Having stumbled across our website, Bridget knew Hog Roast Birmingham sounded right up Leon’s street. As an avid foodie Leon loved to try out the latest restaurants and was always a huge fan of slow roasted foods. We were asked to come to the couple’s home and prepare a Hog Roast Birmingham meal for when Leon arrived home from work that evening. He would be welcomed with the sweet aroma of a Hog Roast Birmingham cooking away and greeted by Bridget and their family whom she had invited along.
We arrived mid-afternoon to give us plenty of time to get our food roasting away. Bridget had chosen our classic hog roast rolls as she wanted to impress her husband and had heard great things about our signature dish. Our chef creates these magnificent rolls by first scoring the skin of the hog before roasting, he then applies lots of sea salt and hot water which is the secret behind creating our fantastic crackling. Next, we roast the hog for several hours. When roasting a hog, the longer the better as it allows the meat to become perfectly succulent and tender, in the end it simply falls off the bone itself. Once the meat is done we slice it delicately and place it in freshly baked bread rolls. With this we add our homemade apple sauce to perfectly offset the saltiness of the crackling with something sweet. Finally, we add the stuffing and voila- a hog roast roll!
