So it’s that time of the year when the clocks move back and the nights draw in, so as has been the case in previous years we found ourselves setting up in for a hog roast Banbury halloween garden party. This year our clients had not only booked us to cook the whole hog, they’d gone the whole hog with their decorations.
As we arrived before lunchtime to start our slow roasting process, the garden was distinctly un-spooky, but by the time the hog roast Banbury was approaching perfection, having been slowly turned on one of our purpose built spit-roasting machines for over 5 hours, the whole garden had been transformed into a pumpkintastic spectacle that would have made Scooby Doo and the crew of The Mystery Machine emit the loudest ‘Yoinks!’ on record. It’d be pretty safe to say that by the time the guests had arrived, and the hog roast Banbury had completed roasting, even the legendary appetites of Scooby and Shaggy would have been hard pressed to cope with the amounts of delicious slices of hog we served up in the fresh rolls we always use to ensure the maximum levels of tastiness are proffered to our client’s guests.
As our clients had gone to such efforts to dress the venue on the Halloween theme, and their guests had also gone to the effort of adorning themselves in various scary costumes, it seemed churlish to not try and enter into the spirit of the evening, so I am glad to report that the guests weren’t perturbed by having their food served to them by a zombie chef, and I was assured that the ghoulish face paint didn’t detract from the enjoyment of the hog rolls in the slightest. But I had to decline the offer of a face mask as it turned out that the eye holes limited vision to the extent that it prevented accurate slicing of the hog. And that just won’t do. Here at hog roast Banbury we pride ourselves on doing the best job we can, and slicing the hog is as crucial a part of the process as the roasting.
Overall it was a very successful evening, and it’s always fun to cater for a party where you’re serving up food to ghosts, witches, vampires, zombies etc, as it turns out that all manner of supernatural spooks appreciate a well roasted hog roll as much as any ordinary human being.
