We’ve been doing the rounds with our hog roasts for many years now, but did you know that we actually offer much more than that? While we are very well-known for the good old hog roast in Redditch catering service that we provide, we can also offer different kinds of meat for your event or party, including chicken, turkey, lamb and beef. We can spit roast or barbecue, offer fish and vegetarian options and can cater for other diets, too. When Amy called to book us to cater her work event, she was surprised to find out just that, and ended up actually booking us for her own party spit roast as well as her company’s do that day!
For Amy’s work party, she wanted a simple hog roast in Redditch where the guests could enjoy our famous ‘pig in a bun’ – that’s hot, juicy slices of our carved pork stuffed into floury bread rolls and topped with our special stuffing, tasty apple sauce and pieces of crackling fresh off the pig. Once that was all booked in, Amy got on with asking about a home spit roast to celebrate her wedding anniversary, which I’m sure we’ll also write about once that has gone ahead over the summer.
Wednesday morning came around and I set off to Amy’s workplace with my team nice and early. The hog would take several hours to cook; it takes around an hour for every 10 kilos and this was a fat 50kg. We’d brought along condiments and napkins, as we always do, and set up the machine up in the loading bay which had been set aside for today’s event. After preparing the pig, it was happily cooking away nice and slowly and just needed to be checked every now and again.
Once roasted to perfection, the hog roast in Redditch was ready to be carved and served to the eager employees. Cooking an entire animal means our customers can choose which cut they’d prefer, whether that’s leg or fatty belly meat, for instance. Amy was first in the queue and asked for extra helpings of our crispy crackling and a couple of different cuts. We knew she’d be back for seconds!
