Saturday we had the unusual task of only one job at night. A wedding reception in Hinckley in a newly purpose built conference/ event facility. So the day was spent cooking the hog nice and slowly, making the apple sauce, and preparing our equipment. Everything must be exactly as specified by our customer on their ‘event schedule’. Right down to the colour of their napkins, and size of their hog. With a bit of a late start to the job, we arrived at 7 o’clock and were ready to serve by half past, but the revellers were enjoying themselves so much, we didn’t serve until 9 o’clock. By this time, they were so hungry, it took only 1 hour for 100 people to munch their way through a whole pig!! With 100 full bellies making their way to the dance floor, we left discreetly, after wishing the bride and groom all the best, and headed home for some much needed R & R before the week starts over again!
